Terms of service
The terms for using this website and the journey sites built with Waymarker. Organisations with a licence also have a signed agreement with us.

About these terms
These terms apply when you use:
- this website, waymarker.place
- a journey site built with Waymarker, whether it is at an address ending waymarker.place or on an organisation’s own domain
By using either, you agree to these terms. If your organisation holds a Waymarker licence, your use of the builder and dashboard is governed by your licence agreement. Where the two differ, the licence agreement wins.
Who we are
Waymarker is a trading name of Beatnik Studio Limited, registered in England and Wales (No. 10307236), based at Cobalt 3.1, Newcastle upon Tyne, NE27 0QJ. You can reach us at [email protected].
Journeys are published by the organisation named on them
Each journey site is written and published by the organisation whose name it carries — not by Waymarker. That organisation is responsible for what its journeys say, including directions, access information and opening times. If you have a question or a correction about a route, contact the organisation; if you can’t reach them, email us and we will pass it on.
Walking safely
Paths close, weather turns and opening times change. Distances, walking times, ascent and access notes are a guide to help you plan, not a guarantee of conditions on the day. You are responsible for your own safety, and for anyone in your care. In particular:
- check conditions and opening times before you set off
- follow signs, closures and instructions on the ground, even where a journey says otherwise
- respect private property, and follow the Countryside Code where it applies
- stop looking at your phone when you cross a road or walk near water or traffic
Checking in at a stop is a record for you. It is not a safety service: nobody is told where you are, and nobody is alerted if you don’t finish.
Stamps and badges
Stamps, completion and badges are kept in your own browser. They have no cash value. If you clear your browser’s data or change device they will be gone, and we can’t restore them — we never held them.
Using the sites fairly
You agree not to:
- try to reach data or parts of the service that aren’t meant for you
- interfere with the service, or test its security, without our written permission
- copy journey content in bulk, or use automated tools to collect it
- use the sites for anything unlawful
If you think you have found a security problem, please email [email protected] rather than testing it further.
Who owns what
The Waymarker name, this website and the software behind Waymarker belong to Beatnik Studio Limited. Journey content — text, images, audio and routes — belongs to the organisation that published it, or to the people it licenses it from. You are welcome to read, listen to and share links to journeys for personal use; anything more needs the owner’s permission.
Availability
We work to keep Waymarker running, but we can’t promise it will always be available or free of errors. We may change or improve the service, and an organisation may change, unpublish or remove its journeys at any time.
Our responsibility to you
Walking a journey costs you nothing, and we provide this website and the journey sites as they are. Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else the law does not allow us to limit. Your statutory rights are not affected.
Otherwise, we are not responsible for loss or damage arising from your use of the sites, including from relying on journey content, which is the publishing organisation’s. We are not responsible for loss that was not foreseeable when you started using the sites.
Privacy
How we handle personal data is set out in our privacy policy and cookie policy.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. The date at the top of this page shows when they last changed, and the version on this page is the one that applies.
Law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and its courts deal with any dispute. If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you can also bring proceedings in the courts there.
Twenty minutes, your route, no slides.
Tell us about a walk you already promote and we’ll show you what it looks like as a Waymarker journey. If it isn’t a fit, we’ll say so on the call.
